About Geraint
I'm a professional music producer based in Los Angeles with over 20 years of experience writing and producing music across a wide range of genres. I hold a First Class Honors degree in Contemporary Popular Music Production from the Academy of Contemporary Music, Guildford UK — one of the world's leading music schools.
Throughout my career I've worked with artists at every level, from bedroom producers finding their sound to experienced musicians ready to take their recordings to a professional standard. I work from my own studio in Los Angeles and teach online students worldwide.
My lessons are built for beginners who are serious about learning music production properly — people who have musical ideas and want the skills and knowledge to actually release them with confidence.

Whether you've just downloaded a DAW for the first time or you've been making music informally and want to take it to the next level, my lessons give you a clear, structured path from idea to finished, release-ready track.
We'll start at the very beginning — learning your way around whichever DAW suits you best (Pro Tools, Ableton Live, or Logic Pro) and understanding how a professional recording session actually works. From there I'll walk you through recording live instruments, setting up and understanding your recording equipment, and building a solid recording chain that gives you clean, professional results from the start.
Once we have your recordings in place, I'll guide you through the fundamentals of mixing — how to balance, shape, and bring your track to life so that what you hear in your head is what comes out of the speakers. By the end of our sessions together, you'll have the knowledge and the confidence to take a musical idea all the way through to a finished, polished track you're proud to put out into the world.
I believe the best learning happens when you're working on music you actually care about — so lessons are always tailored to your genre, your goals, and your pace.

Here is an outline of the lesson plans that I can adapt to your ability and requirements.
LESSONS 1 – 2: DAW orientation: navigation, session setup, key workflows and shortcuts in Pro Tools, Ableton, or Logic Pro.
LESSONS 3 – 4: The recording chain: microphones, audio interfaces, gain staging, and signal flow — getting clean recordings every time.
LESSONS 5 – 6: Recording live instruments: technique, room acoustics basics, comping takes, and editing for a natural feel.
LESSONS 7 – 9: Mixing fundamentals: levels, EQ, compression, reverb, and building a balanced, professional-sounding mix.
LESSON 10: Preparing your track for release: export settings, loudness standards, and getting your music distribution-ready.
ONGOING - Continued work on your own projects — applying everything learned to music that matters to you.
