Teaching Method and Techniques
My teaching approach is tailored to each student’s individual goals, skill level, and musical interests. Lessons blend technique, music theory, and creativity to build a strong foundation while encouraging personal expression. Whether we’re focusing on scales, chords, improvisation, or mastering your favorite songs, I ensure a balance of structure and flexibility to keep it fun.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a warm-up and review of previous material. We then dive into a mix of exercises, such as scales, chord progressions, or rhythm/ear training, paired with practical application through songs or improvisation. I incorporate music theory in a hands-on way, making complex concepts approachable and relevant to your playing. Each session ends with actionable practice goals to help you progress between lessons.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
With over nine years of teaching experience and expertise in all genres—from jazz and Tejano to Motown, R&B, gospel, and contemporary styles—I bring versatility and professionalism to every lesson. I’ve performed with Tejano bands, as a gigging musician for top 40 and church music, and remain committed to lifelong learning. My passion for music and my students’ growth makes each session engaging and inspiring.
Who the Lessons Are For
My lessons are open to all ages and levels, from complete beginners picking up the guitar for the first time to advanced players refining their technique or exploring new genres. Whether you’re an aspiring musician, a hobbyist, or someone preparing for college-level music programs, I’ll guide you every step of the way.
