About Jonathan
I have been a self-taught guitarist for 17 years, and an active member of the music industry for the last 9 years, performing in bands in the Vancouver Area, along with providing written and recorded session work for local artists.
I am a self-taught guitarist and musician, have been playing for 17 years and have been an active member of the music industry for 9 years. I have taught over 300 students in affiliation with the companies Downbeats Studios (2019-2020), Temple Music Academy (2020-2021), Ryan May Music (2023-2025), Song of Stars (2025-present), and Nume Music (2025-present), where I taught beginner to advanced level guitar lessons across multiple styles including rock, metal, R&B, jazz, country, and pop, with student ages ranging from 5 years of age to 60 years of age.
I have performed in many of the local venues in the Vancouver area, including Rickshaw Theatre, The Cobalt, Red Gate, Guilt & Co, Green Auto, The Biltmore, and more. My most recent professional accomplishments include a Tour of Western Canada with the band Tess Anderson (March 14-29, 2025), performing at the Hollywood Theatre with Artist Emma Alves (January 29, 2026), and providing session guitar for local artists Tess Anderson, Emma Alves, Talia Duvet, and several others with the production and engineering company 12fangsrecording.

These lessons cover anything from strumming along to your favorite pop song, to shredding along with your favorite guitar solo! We'll cover everything from beginner chords and songs, to advanced techniques like legato, finger picking, hybrid picking, and any other you might need to upgrade your guitar playing.
These lessons have no set curriculum, and are student guided, meaning whatever song or technique you want to learn, we will take the steps to ensure the highest results in your playing. This can include targeted exercises for your preferred skill (i.e., picking, chord transitions, song memorization, etc.), a focused practice plan, making sure that any time you pick up your guitar, your practice sessions are as efficient as possible, and self-expression, where we hone your own personal sound and style.
These lessons are for all ages and skill levels, so as long as you know your ABC's, we can get you playing your favorite songs in no time!
