I am a special education teacher with 10 years of teaching experience and certification, teaching: whole classroom general education, inclusion classrooms, ELL instruction, reading instruction, small group instruction, one-one special education. I first examine former work samples if available, I then ask for a writing sample, ask the student to read a passage to measure: fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and writing skills. I assess the student’s needs, along with the parents’ input. I then approach one area at a time: reading then writing, using: accommodations, modifications where needed.
