I believe that the teaching approach for each and every person who wants to learn has to be handpicked based on how this person feels most comfortable to work. The approach that I often resort to is the Communication approach. Communication approach revolves around building an open and lively conversation with the student spiced with all the necessary elements (vocabulary, grammar, common knowledge) that would permit the independent operation of the Russian language out of the "classroom" in real life situations.
I work with students of all levels from Beginner to Proficiency and prefer to choose the most effective learning strategy based on the needs and wants of the student.
