About Joe

Currently working at a Secondary School as a Progress Tutor to Pupil Premium students, I am a patient, caring and encouraging English tutor who understands that building confidence in the subject is just as important academic understanding.

I have in-depth knowledge of the UK curriculum for both KS3 and GCSE. I have a love of literature and reading and hope, through our lessons, to instil this passion onto my students. I understand that each student is an individual and therefore benefits from different teaching approaches. This is something that I like to ensure we take our time over so that you find the lessons are as effective as possible.

About the lesson

Engaging, inclusive and successful KS3-GCSE English Tutor -

I am an enthusiastic, engaging, patient and professional English tutor. I can help you with KS3 through to GCSE and A Level. With me, we will not only go through a broad range of the curriculum, but we will specifically target problem areas and create a bespoke learning plan for you. I currently work as a professional English tutor at a Secondary School where I teach KS3 and GCSE students.

My lessons focus on the student and their needs. I will provide lessons that are planned so that progression is seen at the end of each one as well as over a sustained period of time. I cater each set of lessons to the individual students providing resources and tasks that are both fun and challenging.

Be it inference, comprehension, grammar, creative writing or literacy, I will help ensure that you receive the highest quality of tutoring that will help you with your school. We can even go through troublesome homework together if you like!

I also have extensive experience working with SEN children in a mainstream school setting. I currently work in a Secondary School during the day working in small groups to help boost students attainment.

I am extremely knowledgable in the National KS3 curriculum as well as the AQA GCSE curriculum. However, I am more than happy to work with any GCSE exam board and will do extensive research should you require me to know the ins and outs of a different one.

My teaching style is extremely patient and encouraging, as I believe these to be two of the key cornerstones of any successful 1-1 lessons. I am a graduate of English Literature and will be starting my Masters in Creative Writing in 2022.

In my spare time I am a voracious reader of books, so if you want to increase your literacy skills then I am more than happy to read through a book with you and help to work on comprehension and inference skills.
