About Valorie Celeste
I am a retired educator with 24 years at DPSCD and 8 years with Wayne County Community College.
I have an undergraduate degree in English/ Speech from Wayne State University. A Master’s Degree from Oakland University in Language Arts and a Reading Specialist Certificate. I also have a Master’s Degree from Wayne State University in Library and Information Science. I am an avid reader, story teller and writer.
I always tried to make my students learning experiences relevant, so that they could make connections and shared this information with their parents. My mom made learning experiences fun for my sister and I and she stressed the value of education. I wanted to share these same experiences with my students.
When I had to be out for medical reasons, I would write out detailed lesson plans for the substitute teacher, because I wanted the learning experience to continue.

I believe reading and writing are two of the most important aspects of communication. Reading starts with the spoken word, which then proceeds to written communication. Both of these elements should be a fun adventure as well as an informative one. We are all storytellers and to continue the process we should make it fun, so that the learning process and adventure will continue to grow and prosper.
