About Nora
My name is Nora Wall, and I'm a professional editor and author of three self-published novels—The Dominion, Time Never Stops, and Orbury—with a BA in English and Creative Writing from the University of Iowa (graduated with a 3.86 GPA and Dean's List honors) and a year studying English Language and Literature at Oxford University. Drawing from my experience editing over 100 manuscripts at Elite Editing, including thrillers by bestselling authors like Chelsea Ichaso and Rea Frey, I specialize in line-by-line proofreading, manuscript development, and teaching techniques for academic, creative, and opinion writing. Using my background (BA in English & Creative Writing from the University of Iowa, a year reading Literature at Oxford, and experience as a three-time published novelist), I’ll align every lesson to your specific needs and interests—everything from Victorian fiction to contemporary horror.
In-Depth Text Analysis (20-25 minutes): We’ll do real close reading together—line by line, just like my work as a professional editor—on a passage you choose or one I select. Specialising in 19th and 20th-century literature, modernism, dystopias, and horror, I’ll show you how to spot and articulate subtle themes, symbols, and narrative techniques that earn the highest marks.
Proofreading and Editing Workshop (15-20 minutes): Guide students through hands-on proofreading of their own writing or a sample essay. Share my professional editing strategies for grammar, style, clarity, and flow, incorporating insights from my experience as an author of three novels to help refine voice and creativity.
Technique Sharing and Practice (15-20 minutes): Teach practical tools like close reading methods or outlining thematic elements (for instance, distinguishing between different types of horror), then assign a short exercise for immediate application. Provide feedback to build confidence and skills.
Wrap-Up and Homework (5-10 minutes): Summarize key takeaways, answer questions, and suggest customized reading or writing assignments based on the session, ensuring ongoing progress in literary analysis or creative writing.
