About Juan Sebastian
Hello everyone! My name is Sebastián Casallas. I'm Colombian, 23 years old, and currently living in New York City. I have a degree in Philology and Languages, a field that has fascinated me since a young age. Additionally, I'm interested in geopolitics, translation, education, travel, and meaningful cultural exchange. In the past, I have worked as a teacher for diverse audiences in France and Colombia. I am passionate about creating meaningful conversational environments that allow students to improve their foreign language skills.
I have over two years of teaching experience in Colombia and France. I hold a DALF C2 certification in French and have completed two seminars on teaching Spanish to foreigners as part of my professional development. My classes have a predominantly conversational approach, emphasizing a dynamic and interactive framework of action-oriented learning.
I have worked with various types of students and I speak three languages fluently. I understand the specific needs of each student and have experience in diverse pedagogical contexts. Mi enfoque se basa en adaptar el contenido a las necesidades individuales de los estudiantes, promoviendo la inmersión cultural y el aprendizaje activo. Busco constantemente actualizar mis habilidades pedagógicas para brindar una educación de calidad.
En cuanto a mi plan de lecciones ideal, al principio me gusta crear conciencia sobre el tema inicial, luego a través de documentos preliminares proporciono una comprensión general y detallada. Posteriormente, se lleva a cabo la práctica guiada y la explicación sobre el tema de la sesión. A continuación, el trabajo individual y en grupo brinda la oportunidad de desarrollar autonomía y generar preguntas sobre el tema. Finalmente, asigno tareas a completar y concluyo con retroalimentación sobre la sesión abordada.
He trabajado con todo tipo de audiencias, desde niños de 13 años hasta adultos de 40 años. Tengo preferencia por personas cercanas a mi edad y por individuos que estén totalmente comprometidos con aprender un segundo idioma.
