About Mike
Hi, I'm Mike. I currently work as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school and I'm working towards my Level 4 HLTA qualification.
Working with children has shown me how much of a difference a little extra individual support can make. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing a child begin to understand something they previously found difficult and watching their confidence grow as a result.
I enjoy getting to know each child as an individual and finding ways of learning that work for them. I believe children learn best when they feel comfortable, encouraged and able to make mistakes without worrying about getting everything right first time.
I decided to offer 1-to-1 learning support because I'd like to use the experience I've gained in school to help more children build their skills, confidence and enjoyment of learning.

My sessions are friendly, relaxed and tailored to each individual child. I work with children from Reception to Year 3, providing extra support with reading, phonics, spelling, writing and early maths.
I know that children learn in different ways, so I adapt activities to suit the child rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. My aim is to make sessions enjoyable and engaging while helping children develop their skills and, just as importantly, their confidence.
I currently work as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, so I have practical experience supporting children both in the classroom and on a 1-to-1 basis.
Sessions can take place in your own home and I am happy to discuss the areas where you feel your child would benefit from some extra support before we begin.

Details
I offer a free 30-minute introductory session so I can meet you and your child, discuss any areas where they may need some extra support and make sure I'm the right fit for them before beginning regular sessions.
My standard rate is £20 per hour.
I currently offer home visits within my local area at no additional travel cost. Please get in touch to check whether I cover your area.
