About Carmen
I have studies my BA in Education and Early Childhood studies and completed my PGCE in Primary Education. Since completion of this, I have since worked within a British International School within Kuwait and I am enjoying my time here, however I am wishing to develop and progress within my teaching career. Although I have trained in Early Years/KS1, I am currently teaching with KS2 and feeling confident in teaching and delivering the English National Curriculum within each key stage. As a result, I have developed the ability to adapt my teaching style depending on each child’s age, ability and individual needs.
Since I was a young girl, I have always dreamt of being a Primary School teacher as my Primary School teachers were always so influential to me and made me realise my full potential as a result of their continuous help and support. I always felt that if I could make one child feel as though they could do anything they put their mind and want to reach their full potential, I would have great satisfaction. Therefore, I knew that teaching was the perfect career for me, as my ambition to inspire the younger generation and have a great impact on the lives of younger children would lead to happiness and fulfilment.

I understand that what makes a great teacher is one that is a professional friend to their students and understands each child as an individual and the ways in which they develop and learn. I know that students are actively constructing and developing their own knowledge based on past experiences and prior learning, and understand that this will be different from each child. I know that students do not all learn in the same way or at the same rate. therefore It is my responsibility as a teacher to carefully consider students’ interests, abilities, and prior knowledge when planning my lessons, to ensure that all children and challenged and supported in ways that will allow them to grow and be independent capable learners who are successful within education. I believe a good teacher motivates pupils by making lessons fun and engaging as I believe that children learn best when lessons are enjoyable and encourage peer interactions so that the children can learn from each other and share and develop their ideas.
