About Laura
I am a qualified primary school teacher who has recently moved to Queensland for my partner's work. I completed my graduate year of teaching last year in Broome, WA, teaching a year 5 class. My experience of teaching 30 students with diverse learning needs, preferences and interests has given me a greater insight into the need for personalised teaching and strengthened my skills of differentiation. I believe that the skills I have developed as a teacher would enable me to deliver a professional and highly skilled level of tuition to students needing support and/or are striving to achieve their full potential.

My teaching pedagogy is underpinned by theories such as the 'Universal Design for Learning'. I believe that content should be presented in multiple ways (i.e. tactile, visual, hearing) and that students should have multiple opportunities to practice and apply concepts. Assessment should be to inform future learning and students should be given meaningful feedback to enable them to not only improve but to celebrate their successes.
