About Rosie

With 8 years of experience in the classroom and a quick career development, I love everything about teaching. I love that no two days are the same and that progress can be seen day to day, as well as long-term.

As a creative individual, I have interests in the teaching of art, creative writing, as well as extra-curricular activities such as calligraphy and illustration. In my career so far, I have been involved in developing the curriculum for the whole school, ensuring that learning is relevant, engaging and suited to the needs, interests, aspirations and expectations of learners (as well as society in general). I have a keen interest in metacognitive strategies within the classroom, ensuring that focus is given to HOW children learn best. This promotes independence, boosts resilience and raises standards for all pupils.

About the lesson

I am currently an Assistant Headteacher (Pastoral) and Head of English in a prep school. With 9 years of teaching experience, I have previously taught in a state school in Hampshire, as well as an international school in Dubai.

Whether it be 11+ preparation, boosting in the core subjects or support with confidence-building and self-esteem, I am more than happy to help. Though I am primary trained, I am a specialist English teacher with A Levels in both English Language and Literature. As such, I would be able to tutor Years 7 and 8 English, as well as prepare for Common Entrance.

I have high expectations of pupils in my care; I always deliver strategies that suit individual strengths and encourage good progress to be made. With an inclusive, positive and creative approach, I adapt my teaching to support the needs of all levels of attainment.

I currently teach Years 5 and 6 but can tutor for the following ages:
Maths Year 3 - 6
English Year 3 - 8

My lessons are typically 1 hour though this can be altered to suit the needs of individuals.
