About Byung

My name is Byung, and I am a native Korean speaker with a strong bilingual background. I have lived and worked in New Zealand/Australia for more than 20 years and use both Korean and English daily. This allows me to explain Korean clearly and accurately to English-speaking learners. I approach tutoring with professionalism, patience, and respect for each student’s time. Every lesson is structured around the student’s level and learning goals. While I do not come from a traditional academic teaching background, I bring real-world language experience and cultural understanding into my classes. My goal is to help students feel confident, supported, and comfortable using Korean in real situations.

Hi, I’m Byung
My teaching style is simple: Korean that actually makes sense.

I’m a native Korean speaker who also uses English at a native level.
Because I live my life bilingually, I understand how and why learners get stuck.
I don’t just teach Korean — I explain it in a way English speakers can truly understand.

How I teach my classes
My lessons focus on real communication, not memorization.

I use:

Real textbooks + my own custom materials
Conversation-based practice
Topics based on your interests (culture, daily life, K-pop, travel, food, etc.)

Instead of repeating fixed sentences, you learn how to build your own thoughts in Korean.
As your speaking level improves, we spend more time on conversation and real-life usage.

Typical lesson length: 60 minutes

Your goals and motivation
Simple level check (if you’ve studied before)

Beginners start with:

How Korean works as a language
Hangul (Korean alphabet)
Basic greetings and self-introduction

Learners with experience:

Speaking and listening check
Immediate feedback and explanations during the lesson
