About Anna
My previous work as a sports coach for several high-performing youth teams means I know exactly what it takes to build confidence, handle pressure, and unlock a young person’s potential. I bring this exact mentality to my academic tutoring. My university studies provide the technical knowledge needed to promote learning, but my coaching background provides the strategical session-planning that is needed to structure lessons. My practice is not to simply lecture to my students. Instead, I build programmes that are specific to each individual's needs, teach students how to manage exam anxiety, and use active learning approaches to keep sessions engaging.
I specialise in coaching GCSE & A-Level Biology. I train students to break down complex systems and master the precise language examiners look for when marking papers.

I take each student's needs into account when planning a tutoring session, ensuring that the fundamentals of the concepts being introduced are understood fully, before moving on to more complex topics. I have experienced first-hand the importance of this sequential approach to teaching, and all my sessions will be programmed to cover the basics first, with the introduction of harder-to-grasp concepts forming the second part of any tutorial. To promote full focus and attention, my lessons will typically be 45 minutes to an hour long, leaving room for questions and queries about the topics covered.
With a first-degree honours in BSc Biology and an MSc specialising in clinical neuroscience, I offer a strong academic foundation for tutoring biological sciences. Having achieved top marks at A-level (A* in Biology, A* in Chemistry, and an A in Mathematics), combined with years of advanced university research, I am uniquely equipped to help GCSE and A-level students master complex scientific concepts and achieve exam success.
