About Aswathi
During my time as part of a math team, I helped organize and lead a state-level math fair competition. This event was significant because it not only showcased our skills but also brought together students from various schools to engage in mathematical problem-solving and learning. We put in a lot of effort in planning the event, coordinating with participants, and ensuring everything ran smoothly.
Winning first prize at the state level was particularly meaningful to me. It was a validation of the hard work and dedication our team put into preparing for the competition. It also highlighted the strength of our collaboration and problem-solving skills. This achievement was important because it demonstrated our capability to excel under pressure and reinforced the value of teamwork and perseverance. Moreover, it served as an inspiration for other students and reflected positively on the organization and the educational community we were part of.

To convince students of the value of math, I would focus on showing them its relevance to real life. Here’s how I would approach it:
1. Relating Math to Their Interests: I’d link math concepts to things they care about, like sports statistics, video game algorithms, or the geometry in art and architecture. This helps them see math as a tool that’s part of everyday life.
2. Hands-On Problems: Let them engage with practical problems, like budgeting for a project, planning travel routes using geometry, or coding simple games, which requires logic and problem-solving skills.
3. Highlighting Problem-Solving Skills: Emphasize how math helps develop critical thinking and problem-solving, skills that are important not just in academics but in decision-making, technology, and even careers.
4. Showcasing Future Opportunities: Discuss how math is essential in various fields—engineering, data science, finance, and even in creative areas like design and animation.
5. Making Math Collaborative: Encourage group work where students solve problems together. It makes learning more social and can reduce anxiety around tough concept
