About Fatima

Hi, my name is Cris Doca. I am a qualified teacher in language and literature Portuguese. I am from Sao Paulo, Brazil. I have many years of experience and I work with various age groups. I am also a qualified psychotherapist licensed to work in the UK. I currently live in London.

I started working in the UK, teaching children and adults. As I got to know the UK education system, I became specialized in working with teenagers especially preparing them for the GCSE exams in Portuguese.

Since 2015 I work in a community school named BREACC - Brazilian Educational and Cultural Centre, which I am dedicated to working with Portuguese as a heritage language with the Brazilian community in Twickenham and surroundings. There I taught children from 6 to 8 years old. And currently, teenagers.

My students, private or not, so far have obtained excellent marks on the GCSE and A Level exams, with scores between 8, 9 on the GCSE and for A Level - A*.

I was an OCR examiner for 3 consecutive years, former board that applied the GCSE exams in Portuguese, until 2019. When in 2020, until then, it changed to EDEXCEL, current board responsible for the exams, which I am also accredited.

Most of my adult students are professionals who are looking to learn Portuguese for business or for a change of country. The basis of my work with these students is to identify and understand their needs and teach them in the shortest possible time, the best we can work on the language and culture, in the best possible way.

I love teaching because I like to teach people the diversity of my country, my language and the Brazilian culture. Many people do not know it, but the Portuguese language is very diverse, it is spoken by more than 280 million people in the world in almost all continents, such as: Europe, America, Africa and Asia, in 10 countries: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, India (Goa), Macau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, East Timor! This brings a lot of cultural wealth to Portuguese speakers.
