About Tom
Hello everyone, I am Tom, a 25 year old PhD student originally from Durham, in the North East of England. I recently moved to the West Midlands for my PhD in International Relations, which I am doing at the University of Warwick and Monash University, in Melbourne.
I also hold a first-class degree in Psychology from the University of Edinburgh, and an MSc in International Relations with distinction from the University of Glasgow.
I have experience delivering seminars and presentations to undergraduate students, and also tutoring GCSE and A-Level students.

As a tutor, I adopt a hybrid style based on my understanding of the student's needs. I develop a relaxed environment, encouraging students to share their thoughts and verbalise their ideas.
I do this through a mixture of presentations, which include regular questions to check engagement and understanding; activity-based situations, such as providing problems to solve or thought exercises that draw on material; and written exercises, based on questions generated from the syllabus which I use to check understanding and develop the student's writing capability.
My lessons are generally 45 minutes, as I find this best for learning and engagement. I am happy to adapt this to the needs of my student though.
Tutoring is available for GCSE, A-level, and degree-level students.
