About Emily
I have been tutoring Politics since July and am working on achieving my PGCE outside of lessons. I studied Politics at A level and then went on to achieve a second-class honours (2:1) in Politics and Sociology from Newcastle University, graduating in 2019. I currently have one student that I'm focusing on who is in there second year of college, and we are on track towards achieving an A grade.

My name is Emily and I give lessons to AS and A level Politics students.
My lesson style is suited towards students who may struggle with the usual teaching technique done in schools (like writing endless pages of notes), and instead I aim to build the students confidence when talking about Politics by encouraging discussion and debate on each topic.
I like to look at individual revision technique for each of my students because I feel this is something that is not taught correctly in schools. If a student is struggling with revision I can hold a lesson where we look at how to revise and then trial and error some different techniques until we find one that works best.
My lessons are structured according to each individual and how they best obtain information. However, usually we will start with a quick presentation that gives a simple overview of a specific module. Then we will delve in to more detail, splitting the module in to theory and practice. We will finish with a discussion, structured the way you would answer an essay questions (definition, example, explanation).
I try and encourage the student to do most of the talking at this stage so that we can see what areas they are confident in, and what areas may need more work.

If a student requires more than one lesson a week I am willing to discuss discounts.
I am open to teach students from all abilities but my lessons are especially designed for students who are behind in their class, and may be struggling to learn from the standard school teaching technique.
If a lesson needs to be rescheduled or cancelled, this needs to be done 24 hours prior to the lesson start time or you will still be charged for the hour.
