About Taha
Hi, my name is Taha Azeem and I'm currently a 3rd-year undergraduate student in Political Science and History at the University of Toronto. In my first few years at University, I realized the classes I most appreciated were not always the ones I was most interested in, but rather had the most enjoyable professors. These professors were always so engaging when teaching material and would often go the extra mile for students when asking for clarification. In my tutoring approach, I seek to emulate such a style that my students will not dread coming to my class nor be indifferent to it but will come because they enjoy it. I usually introduce the topic in a general overview which is followed by a question session on both sides to figure out what needs to be focused on specifically, and from there teach and assist to the best of my abilities. Of course, this method is adjusted by individual students' needs and wants.
I have tutored for about 2.5 years in history, English, math, and biology, previously I worked in conjunction with my previous high school to teach classes of 3 to 4 students in regular sessions, and if need be carried out extra one-on-one sessions with students who needed a little more guidance to either to excel in class or catch up to others.
I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible, therefore welcoming any resources or suggestions students or parents can provide me. In addition, I am easy to reach and will often give fast responses if emailing or texting me before 9 p.m. Feel free to contact me with additional questions or to schedule a lesson.

My teaching tends to be not guidance based, but assistance based, meaning that instead of teaching the student content that may already know and only touching upon items they do not, I instead seek to assist their ability to learn with supplemental information that in class teachers may not provide on a topic. Or to explain specific concepts that the student may ask. My typical lesson plans will first gravitate towards a general overview of the topics students cover in class, and then seek to further supplement the general overview with specific needs according to the student. I believe what sets me apart in tutoring style is my teaching method which is not guidance-based where I lead and the student follows, but instead I give the student the chance to control their learning and they lead by demanding what they need from me, in a reactionary based style to better accommodate the student, but also not to have the student absorb the knowledge that is irrelevant to their studies.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I had Taha as my tutor for my essays in English class. He was recommended to me by another friend who claimed that he really helped them polish their essay-writing skills for their history class. I had him tutor me for my English class where I was struggling with thesis statement development, and paraphrasing as well as learning how to strengthen my research skills regarding whatever topic I am working on. He has a very relaxed way of teaching, and he heavily encourages students to problem-solve on their own, with him merely guiding them at times. He is great at communicating with students regarding the mistakes they've made, and how they can improve upon them and continue to improve. He is not a harsh teacher and creates a welcoming environment for his students to operate in.
