About Jade

I have been teaching piano and voice since 2010. I took a short break and have started up again in my new residence in South Melbourne. I seek to build a new student base in this area. I specialise in coaching children and beginners.

Over the years I have performed and rehearsed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Melbourne Opera, XL Arts, the Australian International Opera Company and PEM Studios Melbourne.

My professional opera chorus debut was with the Australian International Opera Company touring The Marriage of Figaro around China. I performed as Lady Bertram in Johnathan Dove’s Mansfield Park with XL Arts as a opera solo debut. Other operatic projects include, Dido and Aeneas, Un Ballo in Maschera and Tannhaüser. Choral works include Beethoven 9, Messiah, Mass in Time of War, Faure’s Requiem and Missa Solemnis. I studied Classical Voice at the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash University after shifting from Music Theatre to Opera.

I follow the AMEB syllabus and can prepare students for these exams. With access to a large library of music, we can explore pieces outside the syllabus for fun! I use 2 pianos for lessons, students play the upright piano and I play the electric piano in order to play with the student or demonstrate where helpful.

The most important aspect of my lessons is fun and enjoyment. I place a great emphasis on technique and expression right from the start in a playful way. I believe we all learn most effectively when we are having fun! I provide a warm approach and believe in gentle guidance and positive encouragement. My style is greatly influenced by each student, I follow the flow of my students and shape the lesson specifically for them. I don't believe in placing pressure or unrealistic expectations on my students, rather drive them with curiosity and challenge. I also endeavour to show the importance of using the piano and voice to express art and emotion.

Bachelor of Music (Classical Performance) from Monash University.
Fully Accredited Member of the Victorian Music Teachers Association.
Current valid Working With Children's Check.

NDIS payments accepted.
Contactless payment accepted.

Covid-19 precautions followed. Piano sanitized after each use, hand sanitizer available upon entry.

Initial 30 minute assessment: $20
Ongoing rate: $35 for 30 minutes.

I prefer payment monthly in advance after the first trial lesson, of course this is flexible.
Lessons can be rescheduled with 24 hours notice. Minimum notice is required for special circumstances like illness.
You will always receive all lessons paid for, even if it means honouring them in the next month (unless the rescheduling notice period is not followed).
