About Lori

I went to college at the University of Pittsburgh. After I graduated, I moved to Texas and taught in Fort Worth for 23 years. While there, I taught World Geography, US History, Government, and Economics.
During my time in Texas, I helped write the curriculum two different times. I also helped students, one on one, for years so that they would graduate. I would help them study for their STAAR test as well as help them with their alternative projects. Plus, I would help students in the Plato lab to recover credits that they had fallen behind on.
I moved home to Ohio and then moved to Las Vegas to teach there. I was teaching in Las Vegas during Covid and we had distance learning for most of that time. I was teaching World History,US History and African American History to 10th, 11th, and 12th graders over that time.
I was able to get a teaching job in Ohio and I taught religion and then World Geography, World History, and US History during those 2 years. During this time, I taught 8th, 9th and 10th grades.
I am currently teaching junior-high students in Detroit.

About the lesson

I have taught Social Studies to students in Texas, Nevada, Ohio and Michigan. I worked with Texas students needing to pass their STAAR tests for graduation for over 5 years. I have also worked with students to get their credits caught up on computer programs.
The subjects I am most familiar with are Economics, US History and World Geography.
I have taught grades 6-12, and enjoy working with students on a one-on-one basis.

I like to use visuals as well as going over the topics. In the regular classroom, I use many creative methods to help the students remember information about the topics.
