About Jacob
I always explain everything to my students. For example, I do not utilize Hanon simply because it is tradition. I have studied each exercise in all keys and play Hanon every day. I always make it a point to explain why each exercise is important, and to demonstrate how the end results will look, sound, and feel. Demonstration in a lesson is vital in training all ages and levels. I have taught children from the ages of five to eighteen as well as adults for the last four years. Teaching and performing are and will always be my life's work.

I work to pass down the knowledge of piano art using methods from the Eastern European tradition of piano playing. These methods are not my own and I take no credit for them. As I have been taught, this is the highest level of art in piano playing. This school, above all, is the art of sound. A student's individual sound can reveal itself only when the student is completely relaxed and confident at the instrument, in return, allowing for full expressive freedom. The methods understood by Henrich Neuhaus, Franz Liszt, Godowsky, Medtner, Nikolai Zverev, (teacher of Rachmaninoff and Scriabin) among many others, are the same methods I utilize to achieve this expressive freedom.

I cannot recommend Jacob Huggins enough, if you are looking for a teacher that understands the piano not just as an instrument but as a work of art he is the teacher for you. I've been studying under him since late 2019, in person and in video throughout the coronavirus pandemic. In that time he has shared his great knowledge of the mechanical aspects of the piano and an undeniable enthusiasm for all music as an artform. Throughout our lessons Jacob has come prepared with a rich and manageable curriculum, while also holding me accountable to come prepared as well by outside practice and preparation. Under Jacob, every ounce of passion and interest you give to him and the piano he will return to you tenfold. Whether you are experienced or new to the instrument like I was, Jacob is a knowledgeable, patient, and understanding teacher.
