About Somi
For 13 years, I have been helping students of all ages learn Piano in a friendly and supportive environment. I teach school students, college students, and working professionals who want to improve their musical abilities and enjoy learning music.
My teaching philosophy is based on communication, patience, and steady progress. I believe students learn best when lessons are enjoyable, interactive, and adapted to their personal learning style.
Students in my classes learn piano techniques, scales, chords, rhythm training, sight reading, ear training, music theory, finger exercises, improvisation, and performance skills. I focus on building strong fundamentals that support lifelong musical growth.
In addition to Piano, I teach keyboard fundamentals and music reading. These skills help students become more confident performers and better understand the language of music.
My greatest satisfaction comes from seeing students grow in confidence and ability. I work hard to create lessons that inspire creativity, discipline, and a genuine love for music.

My teaching methodology combines communication, creativity, flexibility, patience, and structured learning. I believe every piano lesson should encourage students to learn with confidence while enjoying every stage of their musical journey. I create a positive environment where students feel motivated to practice and improve.
Students begin with posture, hand position, finger exercises, rhythm, note reading, and music theory before progressing to scales, chords, arpeggios, dynamics, pedal techniques, expressive performance, sight reading, and musical interpretation. Each lesson builds naturally on previous learning to ensure steady progress.
I use practical demonstrations, listening activities, and guided practice to explain every concept clearly. Students are encouraged to ask questions, understand the purpose of every exercise, and develop regular practice habits. Continuous feedback supports long-term improvement.
Students explore different styles of music while strengthening creativity through improvisation, accompaniment, and expressive performance. These experiences help students become confident and versatile musicians.
Besides piano, I teach keyboard skills, ear training, rhythm development, music theory, sight reading, music appreciation, performance preparation, and beginner composition. These related subjects help students gain complete musical knowledge.
My goal is to help every student reach their musical potential while developing confidence, creativity, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for piano and music.
