About Darcy
I have 7 years of experience teaching piano and hold a B.Mus in Piano Performance and an M.Mus in Music Pedagogy. Over the years, I have guided students of all ages and levels, helping them master technique, musical expression, and performance skills. My teaching philosophy balances technical rigor with creative exploration to maintain engagement and cultivate artistry.
I create a nurturing and motivating environment where students feel encouraged to explore, experiment, and express themselves through music. Lessons are tailored to individual strengths and goals, combining structured practice, repertoire development, sight reading, improvisation, and ensemble experience to promote comprehensive learning.
Beyond teaching, I actively perform, study new repertoire, and explore innovative teaching strategies to bring real-world insight into lessons. Intermediate learners develop technique through arpeggios, hand coordination, expressive phrasing, complex rhythm, and dynamic control. Advanced learners refine interpretation, advanced repertoire, ensemble collaboration, improvisation, and performance preparation. Each lesson integrates guidance, feedback, and structured practice for consistent skill development.
