About Elmer
Music theory and pop and contemporary styles require a delicate balance of technical precision and artistic freedom. Many people assume that rigid posture and hand position stifle musicality, but I have found that proper alignment is actually the primary vehicle for total expressive control.
My 13 years of performing across NYC and various tours taught me that a solid foundation allows for true flexibility during a cold read. With my BM from Boston Conservatory, I focus on memorization techniques and grade exam prep like ABRSM and Trinity to build your confidence. I combine rhythm and timing exercises with sight playing and sight reading to ensure you handle any chart thrown at you in the room. My methods turn the piano into a partner that supports your voice rather than a separate hurdle to clear.

Sight reading is often treated as a chore, yet it is actually the most creative way to claim your independence as a performer. Most students find the keyboard intimidating until they realize that chord shapes are just patterns waiting to be recognized. I apply my 13 years of stage experience to help you stay composed when the music is on the stand. Since my background involves accompanying myself during high-pressure auditions, I teach you how to maintain your focus while you play.
Weekly practice modules assigned with every class ensure that the 264 students I have taught keep moving forward. I track your progress against the 10.0 standard to maintain consistency.
This approach keeps your preparation manageable. We prioritize efficiency. These lessons are designed to get you ready for the stage. I look forward to hearing you play.
