About Daniel
I am a pianist and composer with extensive performing experience who has studied with teachers from the Royal Academy of Music, the University of Cambridge, and Chetham's School of Music. I have worked with many students of all levels, and draw upon my experience in my teaching.
At Chetham's from 2013 to 2021, I studied with Murray McLachlan and won the school's Concerto Competition, as well as the BPSE's Junior Intercollegiate Competition. As a composer, I won BBC's Young Composer 2019, which led to performances of my pieces by the Aurora Orchestra and the BBC Concert Orchestra. At Cambridge I was an Instrumental Award holder, and performed regularly as a soloist and chamber musician. I currently study piano with Tessa Nicholson, a professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

At every level I aim to develop confidence and enthusiasm for music. I can prepare students for all aspects of ABRSM or Trinity exams. The pupil is most important - I adapt my approach to each. Lessons usually 30 - 60 minutes, depending on pupil.
For beginner piano students, I start with teaching the layout of the keys and reading sheet music. From here, I will try to encourage good habits in students, and give them rewarding pieces to learn.
For more advanced piano students, I aim to build a solid technical foundation, and suggest repertoire which both challenges and satisfies them. I will develop aural and sight-reading skills, crucial for enjoyment and ease of progress.
For theory students, I ensure that students are comfortable with the skills, and secure on the relevant knowledge.
Qualifications: Joint First Study Piano and Composition at Chetham's School of Music; BA Hons. (Cantab.) in Music, with a starred first; LTCL Diploma, piano
