About Mark
My current day job is as a K-8 substitute teacher in a public school system that is incredibly diverse. It forces me to engage with students from all walks of life, and in various subjects and grade levels, which I think fits me well since I am already open-minded and pride myself on my versatility. I myself have been a non-traditional, largely self-taught, first-generation college student, so there are few situations I can't empathize with. As far as my qualifications for my specific subjects, I have earned both my Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Physics. I currently hold the provisional license to teach Physics at the 8-12 (High School) level in Massachusetts (DESE).

I specialize in math and physics but have a special interest in learning itself. I will offer lessons that meet you at the level of need for your specific course subject or syllabus. I believe clarity of explanation up front is important, as it avoids unnecessary confusion, so I will strive for that, first and foremost. I am frequently able to simplify complex subjects, occasionally by analogy. However, math and physics are, in the words of one of my grade school teachers, "not spectator sports," so I will aim to guide your technique as much as your knowledge, providing opportunities for practice as well as learning. Science is self-correcting, and so too must its students be, so mistakes will be treated as the learning opportunities that they are. I look forward to helping you learn!
