About Georg`
TRAC SA is a NGO which assists science teachers and grade 11–12 learners to perform curriculum-based
science experiments. The responsibilities included performing experiments and teaching physical science in multiple disadvantaged schools around the Mtunzini area in Kwa-Zulu Natal, and assisting all learners to apply to higher institutions and for tertiary funding. A significant portion of time was given to preparing learners for examinations using normal class time and extra lessons in afternoons and evenings.
Promat Projects
• Development of computer course material and facilitation of several computer training courses
(Microsoft Word and Excel) for computer illiterate teachers in the Hluhluwe region
• Management of a school evaluation project of a FDE (Further Diploma in Education) in Technology

• Development, facilitation and management of a school maintenance project in the Hluhluwe region
ORTStep Institute
The ORT-STEP Institute was an NGO focused on teacher training in Technology Education. My role at
ORT-STEP involved the design and development of materials for the various components of the course. In
addition, I was extensively involved in the training of teachers at the Gauteng branch.
Later I was promoted to manager of the ORT-STEP Institute branch in Richards Bay. My primary functions
were the promotion of the ORT-STEP Institute, fund raising and project management, as well as lecturing and the development of course material. Alongside this, I coordinated several projects in the Jozini area of KwaZulu-Natal. This position held many responsibilities such as connecting with various
companies and local government departments to obtain their assistance and support for the project.

In teaching I always try engage the class with the lesson by starting with what they would know about the topic. I endeavor to get the learners to comprehend the concepts as that with enable them to answer questions relevant to the topics. In a live classroom situation I try to incorporate hands on experiments or demonstrations. Some of the demonstrations can also work using online teaching.
