About Daniel
Thus far I have studied philosophy for seven years. I achieved an A* at A-level, I have a degree in the subject, and am currently completing a Masters research degree in the field. I have taught Philosophy in 1-to-1 and small classes in both an A-level context as a teacher and within an undergraduate context to my peers.
I can teach the current A-level Philosophy specification. I have an enhanced DBS check, and so I am happy to take queries from the parents of A-level students.
I am also happy to take queries from anyone either wanting an introduction to philosophy in general or a specific topic. Whether you are completely new to philosophy, a student of the subject, or someone well read in philosophical matters - I am happy to hear from you!
My specialist subjects:
- Ethics.
- The philosophy of Martin Heidegger.
- The philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche.
- Ancient Greek Philosophy (Pre-Scoratics, Plato, Aristotle).

If the goal of teaching is to be as specific to those involved as possible, then time and patience are required for this to come about. Philosophy, more than any other subject, is conversational at heart. As such my teaching method aims at a relaxed and informal environment where those learning are able to enquire and discuss the material freely.
Given my experience, I am well versed in explaining difficult philosophical concepts and arguments in a clear and concise manner. I will work with you to ascertain how many sessions you would be interested in and what you want to achieve from them. From this, we will work together to create a learning programme to achieve your goals. If you're more interested in simply discussing and learning about philosophy (i.e. you are not studying it for qualification purposes), then we can work out what you would like to learn about and proceed accordingly.
Our first lesson, an hour of which is free, will be devoted to establishing the above.
