About Hannah

I am a third year student at the University of St Andrews studying Philosophy and International Relations, alongside Religious Studies. Whilst in school, I achieved relative highers in RMPS and Philosophy, and an advanced higher in RMPS - having done these fairly recently I am familiar with the layout of Scottish SQA exams.

In my final years of school I gained experience teaching junior classes about philosophy and religious studies - this was when I discovered how much I loved the subject. Now at university, my peers and I are constantly explaining and teaching things in new ways to each other to help us gain a better understanding of more complex topics. I am also a student ambassador within the University, where I participate in a widening access programme designed to help high school children achieve their potential. This includes marking work, giving guidance on class projects and also general advice about higher learning.

I can tutor alongside a specific course, or if you are keen to learn more in general about either subject - I am more than happy to do so. This subject is my passion, and my goal is to become a teacher of Religious and Philosophical Studies once I graduate.

About the lesson

My aim is to help each student improve, whether that be specific to passing an exam, or gaining further understanding of the subjects of philosophy/ethics/religious studies.

I can cover topics of religion and their importance today, I can cover briefly all world religions and their main aspects, however, I am most confident in Judaism. This includes major festivals, historical events and their texts.

Areas of philosophy include beginners critical thinking, and up to university level in, moral philosophy, foundations of western philosophy, medical ethics, and philosophical theology.

I am happy to adjust myself to suit whatever the student needs, whether that be proofreading essays, helping you understand a course better, or providing an overview/discussion of topics. There is no typical standard lesson with me, as I want make each lesson different with each student - depending on what they require. However, I do try and make what can be known as dry subjects seem interesting and I can promise you enthusiasm!
