My lessons are discursive, student tailored and aim to work with and showcase my student’s particularity. I accept students from GCSE to undergraduate level, as well as any and all enthusiasts. Sessions would typically be an hour, though this can be extended as needed.
Roughly, a programme would run as follow. First, we work on identifying your needs, goals, and any potential obstacles. Parameters established, initial lessons might focus on contextualizing and motivating a particular area of study, culminating in a canvas of any preliminary intuitions we might have around this. Here, we would work to articulate and justify your preliminary take on the matter.
In follow up sessions, we would locate core issues then present and oppose strong and/or popular arguments surrounding the subject. Having sourced and broken down relevant supporting arguments, we would establish their strengths and revisit our preliminary intuitions in their light. With these positions in place, our evaluations in hand, we turn to argument. First looking at any essay type tasks you have been assigned or developing our own as an aid to understanding. Crucially, we outline and test argument.
Essay prep and review services are modular and available as a standalone service.
Services offered:
• Subject specific tutoring.
• Sessions on essay structure, and effective argumentation.
• Essay feedback.
• Research assistance.
