About Nick

My background is as an academic philosopher, with undergraduate and master's degrees in philosophy from the University of Cambridge and a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Oxford. Having realised that teaching students was my favourite part of being an academic, I am now seeking to become a secondary school teacher. Enhanced DBS-checked.

About the lesson

I always seek to tailor my teaching closely to the needs of each individual student. The emphasis is always on active learning rather than passive receptivity, and I aim to hone reading and writing skills and exam technique in addition to ensuring a thorough understanding of the material.

I have several years' experience teaching philosophy and political theory to undergraduates at the University of Oxford, and am now transitioning to become a religious studies teacher in a secondary school. I have taught at a number of summer schools for sixth-form students, and also have experience teaching younger students - including one-to-one chess coaching.

Lessons are typically 1 hour, primarily for KS4 (GCSE) and KS5 (A-level) students.
