About Adrian
I taught undergraduate philosophy at Heythrop College, University of London (for 9 years) and, as guest lecturer, at the university of Hertfordshire. I have also taught A-level philosophy at Sutton Grammar School (where I was head of department), and Roedean School.
I am currently a successful freelance writer and academic and have published widely in addition to giving public lectures for Philosophy Now Magazine and the London School of Philosophy at Conway Hall. I have been editor of the British Wittgenstein Society and am currently on the editorial board of Anthem Press. I also run a series of adult education classes outside of London.

I am a friendly and flexible DBS checked tutor whose overall aim in teaching philosophy is to nurture a love of the subject.
Philosophy is primarily concerned with logical thinking (and what counts as logical thinking). Thus, my main aim is to ensure that students think logically about the arguments with which they are confronted alongside creatively extending or opposing them.
My teaching methods vary according to the needs of the student. However, a general approach that I adopt is to ensure the student has a thorough and accurate grasp of the topic under consideration. Subsequently, the tutorials might take on a dialogical approach or, perhaps, the manner of a lecture. It all depends on individual learning styles.
In terms of essay writing, I concentrate on helping students develop good structure in conjunction with the ability to select relevant content that is required to formulate good arguments. I also work on improving writing style which not only assists in the presentation of good arguments, but helps develop sophistication of thought.
I teach undergraduate and A-level philosophy
