About Neil

I am a dedicated and approachable philosophy tutor with several years of experience helping students improve their understanding, confidence and academic performance. I have worked with learners at GCSE, A-Level and university level, supporting them with exam preparation, essay writing, critical thinking and philosophical analysis.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging and adaptable. I understand that philosophy can sometimes feel abstract or intimidating, so I focus on making complex ideas clear, engaging and relevant to each student. I aim to create a relaxed learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their own ideas.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, goals and learning style. I teach philosophy at GCSE, A-Level and university level, as well as to adult learners with a personal interest in the subject. Whether you need help understanding difficult concepts, improving essay structure, preparing for exams or developing critical thinking skills, I adapt my approach to suit you.
I aim to create lessons that are engaging, structured and discussion-based. Philosophy is best learned through dialogue, so I encourage students to ask questions, challenge ideas and build confidence in expressing their own arguments. I also provide clear explanations, targeted feedback and practical techniques for writing strong essays and analysing texts.

Lessons are typically one hour long and can take place online or in person depending on location. I have several years of tutoring experience and work with students of different ages, backgrounds and abilities. My goal is not only to help students achieve excellent academic results, but also to help them genuinely enjoy philosophy and become more independent thinkers.
