I have a PhD from the University of Leeds.
I have an in depth knowledge of science and maths related subjects and I am confident teaching these from primary to high school education level.
My lessons are tailored to the requirements and education level of my student.
After first meeting or speaking I am able to form a lesson structure which will meet the student's needs.
The lessons broadly follow this structure:
1. Recap previous lesson to ensure student understanding.
2. Continue the topic or introduce new topic depending on student's progression.
3. Practice examples from the syllabus and exam questions.
4. Summarise what has been studied in this session and set a goal for the following lesson.
More exact rates can be discussed.
I have taught at many difference education levels and ages, for example science experiments for primary school children, helping family or friends with SATs or GCSEs and as a teaching assistant for university students.
All whom I've come across have commented on my ability to simply explain science and maths concepts. Whether it is a 5 year old interested in materials like woods or metals, to university students trying to understand how the atoms in those materials behave.
It is this and my great enjoyment of teaching that has driven me to become a tutor.
This will be my first time as an 'official' tutor and I very much look forward to it!
My first lesson would be free and 30 minutes long.
