About Laura
I am a current PhD student studying cell biology of parasites looking to tutor anyone who needs help with a range of natural science subjects. I completed a BSc in Biomedical Science in Durham and a MSc in Parasite Biology in Liverpool. I went to school in South Africa, France and England and have tutored students in all three of those countries!
As my background and education is very diverse, I understand the difficulties in moving schools/countries and having to adjust to different ways of teaching/learning. I would like to help students better adjust to the demands of their new environments and help people enjoy the subjects that they're learning.
I am available for one-to-one tutoring, group tutoring, tutorial-like sessions, Skype or proof-reading/editing of assessment work. Please contact me for further information by email or text!

As I have completed a bachelor's and masters degree and am now a year into my PhD, I have had to adapt my ways of learning and revising many times to meet the specificities and content of my various degrees.
I am a very visual person, so most of my personal learning came from drawing molecular pathways, making flash cards, powerpoint presentations and spider-diagrams but I also had to mix that up with continuous essay writing and memory-based learning. I also promote reading around in the literature so that students can focus on the whole story and not just on the content received in the lectures, which can sometimes be out of context and confusing.
I am able to adjust to my students preferred ways of learning and requirements and, because I am only 25 years of age, am able to understand to the current university system and I relate to the demands of modern day university learning. I will set up monthly and weekly targets as I find that sticking to a schedule is the best way to move through every learning situation.
