About Smin

I am currently a third year PhD student specializing in the historical relationship between Korea and the United States. In addition to my academic research, I spent a year working as a professional historical tour guide, introducing Korea’s rich history and culture to international visitors. I also bring extensive teaching experience in both Korean and English, which has shown me how deeply rewarding it is to watch my students grow and gain confidence.

With this background, I offer lessons that not only build language fluency, but also provide a deep, engaging understanding of Korean culture and context. While I deeply understand that mastering a foreign language can be challenging, I also believe it is an incredibly rewarding and enjoyable journey!

About the lesson

Are you looking to achieve natural fluency in Korean? I offer personalized Korean lessons tailored to all levels, learning goals, and personal interests, using customized learning materials for each student.

Complete Beginners: We start with reading Hangul and building foundational vocabulary.

Elementary Learners: We practice high-frequency expressions and focus on constructing your own sentences.

Intermediate & Advanced Learners: We engage in free-flowing conversations and topic-based discussions paired with detailed, real-time corrections.

While my lessons often center on conversational fluency, I also specialize in Korean writing. As a teaching assistant in South Korea, I have reviewed and edited academic writing for over 300 students.

Whatever your learning goals are, we will work together to build your confidence and fluency in Korean!
