About Simone
I am close to completing my PhD in Gender Studies at UCL, which focuses on feminist philosophy and the history of philosophy. I have a first-class degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford. For three years in a row I have been a Graduate Teaching Assistant for several philosophy modules at King's College London. I am also a registered, trained Philosophy Specialist with The Philosophy Foundation, running philosophy sessions with children. In addition to this, I organise and facilitate philosophy discussion groups with vulnerable adults in Islington. Before starting my PhD, I privately tutored Philosophy and Ethics A-Level.

I am willing to teach philosophy or run philosophy discussion groups to those of all ages and experience. I take a dialogical approach, focusing on asking students or participants questions to draw out their own thoughts and arguments. Typically I provide material to read, or an example case, check for comprehension through questions, and then move on to evaluating the content. When teaching philosophy, I am more interested in students or participants doing philosophy themselves than in absorbing content, although of course where relevant I also work hard to ensure that the ideas and arguments are thoroughly understood.
I have been nominated for a Teaching Excellence Award by a student at KCL. I have also undertaken training in Higher Education teaching at UCL.

Perfect! Simone is a great tutor. She is fully prepared and recommended a lot of relevant academic articles to look at. I highly recommend her anyone who needs extra support on philosophy at the advanced level.
