About Gozde
Teaching isn't just a job for me; it's a passion. When I step into the classroom, I feel a sense of purpose knowing that I have the power to ignite a spark in my students' minds. It's not just about delivering lessons; it's about fostering a connection, inspiring curiosity, and instilling a love for learning that will last a lifetime.
With each lesson I teach, I see the potential for transformation in every student sitting before me. It's a journey of discovery, both for them and for me. Patience, passion, and dedication are my guiding lights as I navigate through the complexities of education, constantly adapting to meet the needs of each individual in my classroom.
But it's not just about academics. In the classroom, I strive to cultivate not only knowledge but also character. I believe in the power of education to shape not just minds, but also hearts. Through meaningful conversations, mentorship, and leading by example, I aim to empower my students to become compassionate, empathetic individuals who are ready to tackle the challenges of the world beyond our classroom walls.
Teaching isn't always easy, but it's incredibly rewarding. Every day, I have the privilege of witnessing moments of growth, of seeing light bulbs go off as concepts click into place, and of knowing that I've played a part, however small, in shaping the future. It's a responsibility I don't take lightly, and it's what drives me to give my best, day in and day out.

My teaching portfolio and training have thoroughly prepared me for tutoring undergraduates and college students.
My teaching technique is student-centered. Based on reading material, I prepare comprehension and discussion questions. By engaging with the comprehension questions, I guide students to arrive at the answers themselves, fostering their critical thinking skills. We then evaluate the reading material using the discussion questions to encourage deeper analysis and understanding.
During the academic years of 2018-19, 2019-20, 2022-23, and 2023-24, I held six positions as a tutorial/marking assistant and visiting lecturer. These included two positions for the PR2560- Modern Political Thought Module, two for PR2490- Contemporary Political Theory, one for PR1520: Classic and Contemporary Readings in the Politics and International Relations Department, and one for HS2271 Modern Political Ideas in the History Department. My responsibilities encompassed organising inclusive, encouraging, and engaging weekly seminars, marking students' written work and providing detailed and constructive feedback, offering consultation hours, delivering lectures in the absence of the course convenor, monitoring student attendance, and, during COVID lockdowns, organising online seminars. I taught first-year and second-year undergraduates in small seminar groups, each lasting approximately 50 minutes and hosting between 11 to 24 students.
My tenure at Royal Holloway as a lecturer equipped me with the essential skills to effectively support undergraduate and postgraduate students. Notably, my teaching methods have garnered praise from both colleagues and students, with consistently high satisfaction scores that surpass departmental and university averages. Students have commended the clarity of my explanations and examples, the organization and inclusivity of my seminars, and the detailed and constructive nature of my feedback. Additionally, my attainment of an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy underscores my dedication to pedagogical excellence.
