About Monica
Hi! I'm Monica, a PhD-trained biologist and experienced educator who genuinely enjoys helping students make sense of science.
I've spent more than a decade teaching biology, neuroscience, physiology, and other life science courses to students at the college level, and I've taught thousands of students throughout my career. I've also worked as a research scientist, so I bring both classroom experience and real-world scientific experience to my lessons.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is taking something that initially seems complicated or overwhelming and finding a way to make it click and make it meaningful to your everyday life. Biology isn't just a collection of facts to memorize. It's a story about how living systems work and how all the pieces fit together.
My teaching style is patient, conversational, and focused on understanding rather than memorization. I'll meet you where you are, figure out where you're getting stuck, and help you build from there. I use diagrams, examples, questions, and real-world connections to make difficult concepts easier to understand.
Whether you're struggling with an upcoming biology exam, trying to improve your grade, preparing for AP Biology, or taking a college-level biology, physiology, or neuroscience course, I'm here to help you feel more confident in your ability to understand the material.

I'm a PhD-trained biologist and experienced educator who has spent more than a decade teaching biology, neuroscience, physiology, and scientific concepts to students at the university and high school levels. I've taught thousands of students and have designed courses, developed learning materials, and mentored students through challenging scientific concepts.
My approach is simple:
I don't want you to memorize biology. I want you to understand it.
We'll break complicated concepts into manageable pieces, connect them to the bigger picture, and work through problems until you can explain the concept yourself. I use diagrams, examples, questions, and real-world connections to help you build the kind of understanding that sticks.

My goal is to help you become confident enough to figure out biology for yourself. We will explore meaningful connections so that you'll have the tools for your class and your future.
