About Andrew
I am a first-year mathematics PhD student at UNC Chapel Hill. I completed my undergraduate degree in mathematics at UC San Diego. Here is a little blurb about myself. — I enjoy teaching! I teach advanced high school students at the San Diego Math Circle, and I have taught several math classes as a teaching assistant at UC San Diego. — I hope to clear up some of the blatant gaps in the modern math curriculum with a detailed, conceptual approach. I would like students to know what the big picture is, as opposed to writing things like "the derivative of x^2 is 2x" and wondering why that is the case. — I am currently a PhD student in mathematics at UNC Chapel Hill. My research interests are in geometry and topology. — I am open to covering a wide range of mathematical topics, from middle and high school level mathematics, to advanced undergraduate mathematics.

I am a first year PhD mathematics at UNC Chapel Hill. I have a good knowledge of mathematics, with experience in mathematical contests and research. Most importantly, I have ample experience with teaching. I have served as a private tutor, I teach at the San Diego Math Circle, and I have worked as a teaching assistant for several mathematics courses at my undergraduate institution, UC San Diego.
I prefer an interactive approach when teaching one-on-one. At the high school level, it is often the case that students are overwhelmed by material due weaker foundations. I help students who "don't know what they don't know" by getting to the bottom of where there are gaps in their foundations.
I am opening to doing lessons online on Zoom (with an iPad whiteboard), in person at the UNC campus, or at the student's home.
