About Tony

Hi, I'm Tony. I'm currently doing a PhD in Agricultural Science at Adelaide University and before that I completed my Master's at the University of Melbourne. While in Melbourne, I used to teach undergraduate students at the university.

I've always enjoyed helping people understand things that I found interesting myself. A lot of students get told they're "bad" at maths or science, when really they just haven't had someone explain it in a way that clicks for them. That's where I like to help.

I'm pretty easy-going and try to keep lessons relaxed. No pressure, no judging if you don't know something. Everyone starts somewhere. I'm happy to go over the same thing a few different ways until it makes sense.

I started tutoring because I genuinely enjoy teaching and seeing students gain confidence in a subject. There's nothing better than seeing someone go from "I have no idea what's going on" to "oh, that's actually pretty simple".

Outside of tutoring, I'm usually busy with my PhD, but I enjoy working with students and helping them reach their goals, whether that's improving grades, passing a subject, or just feeling more confident in class.

About the lesson

I like to keep lessons relaxed and focused on what the student actually needs help with. Everyone learns differently, so I usually spend the first lesson getting an idea of where the student is struggling and then tailor future lessons accordingly.
My goal is to build confidence and understanding, not just get them through the next test.

For the subjects I take, I focus on understanding the concepts and applying them to questions and exams. My sessions are more about developing problem-solving skills. I've found that students learn best when they actually understand the reasoning behind a topic rather than just memorizing it.

Lessons are usually 1 hour long, although longer sessions can be arranged if needed.

I hold a Master of Agricultural Science from the University of Melbourne and am currently completing a PhD. I have experience as an academic tutor and enjoy helping students improve their understanding and confidence in their studies.

I offer tutoring for primary and high school students in science (biology, chemistry, and environmental science), as well as university students looking for help with biology, agricultural science or research-related subjects.
