About Greg
I am a PhD-trained biologist (Integrative Biology) with an MSc in Molecular Genetics, offering tutoring across general biology, microbiology, genetics, evolution, applied mathematics, and population genetics.
I have several years of experience teaching and mentoring university students, including leading seminars, grading, and providing one-on-one academic support. I work with both undergraduate and graduate students, including those tackling advanced and quantitative topics.
My focus is on helping students understand complex material clearly and apply it effectively to problem-solving, assignments, exams, and thesis work. Many topics—especially in genetics, evolution, and mathematical biology—can seem difficult at first, but with the right approach, they become much more intuitive and manageable.
In addition to academia, I have industry experience and can provide guidance on graduate school, research pathways, and careers in biology and related fields.
I take a patient, structured, and results-focused approach, tailoring sessions to each student with the goal of building confidence, deep understanding, and long-term success.

My teaching approach focuses on building strong conceptual understanding first, followed by problem-solving and application. In subjects like genetics, applied mathematics, and population genetics, memorization alone is not enough, so I help students understand the underlying logic so they can confidently tackle new problems.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, whether that’s preparing for exams, improving grades, working through assignments, or developing a deeper understanding of the material.
A typical lesson includes:
