About Craig

I am a PhD-qualified Astrophysicist and currently lead a radio astronomy team, where we work to monitor Earth orientation parameters. My work sits at the intersection of physics, mathematics, and real-world scientific application, and I enjoy bringing that perspective into my teaching.

Alongside my professional role, I volunteer with the ACT Rural Fire Service, where I train advanced firefighters. Through this work, I’ve developed a strong foundation in structured teaching and assessment, as well as the ability to explain complex concepts clearly in high-pressure, real-world environments.

Teaching is something I value because it allows me to share the way I think about problems—breaking down difficult ideas into clear, logical steps and building genuine understanding. I find it rewarding to see students gain confidence, especially in subjects that often feel intimidating at first.

About the lesson

My tutoring is designed for students seeking genuine mastery, not quick fixes. I combine concise explanation with challenging, carefully selected problems. Rather than walking through solutions, I guide students to think deeply, articulate their reasoning, and develop the habits required for top-level performance. For advanced students, sessions emphasize problem-solving strategy, exam precision, and extending beyond the standard curriculum.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes, with longer sessions available for intensive exam preparation or advanced university-level work.

I hold a PhD in Astrophysics and have experience teaching at the university level. I also hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, which I apply in my role training advanced firefighters in the ACT Rural Fire Service. This combination of academic and real-world teaching experience allows me to deliver structured, highly effective lessons at a professional standard.
