About Tudor
I have always enjoyed mathematics, particularly the problem-solving side of it. After gaining a First Class degree and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, I spent many years working in technology, developing software and solving complex real-world problems. Throughout my career I have relied heavily on mathematical thinking, logical reasoning and clear communication.
More recently, I undertook training in secondary mathematics teaching, working with students across a wide range of abilities. This experience reinforced something I have long believed: many students are capable of achieving far more in mathematics than they realise, provided concepts are explained clearly and they are given the confidence to tackle problems step by step.
I enjoy helping students move from feeling uncertain about a topic to understanding it and being able to solve problems independently. Whether a student is aiming to improve confidence, prepare for exams, or achieve the highest grades, I aim to create a supportive environment where questions are encouraged and mistakes are viewed as part of the learning process.
My goal is not simply to help students answer particular questions, but to help them develop the understanding and confidence that will serve them throughout their education.

I believe that students learn mathematics best when they understand the ideas behind the methods rather than simply memorising procedures. My approach is to build confidence by breaking problems down into manageable steps, using clear explanations, worked examples and plenty of opportunities for guided and independent practice.
Lessons are tailored to the needs of the individual student. Some students need support with core skills and confidence, while others are aiming for the highest grades and want to develop stronger problem-solving abilities. I adapt my teaching accordingly and encourage students to explain their reasoning, helping them develop a deeper understanding of mathematics.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged if required. Lessons usually include review of previous work, explanation of new concepts, guided practice and examination-style questions.
I hold a First Class degree and a PhD in Artificial Intelligence. I have also undertaken PGCE Mathematics training in secondary schools, which I am part way through. Alongside teaching, I have spent over twenty years applying mathematics and analytical thinking in software engineering, data analysis and technology development.
I offer tuition for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics, as well as support for students who wish to strengthen their mathematical foundations, improve confidence, or prepare for further study.
