Establishing fundamental aspects of your branch of biology.
Identifying structures relating to the overall system.
Explaining how these structures work together to produce the targeted effect.
Showing how the targeted effect is regulated.
My structure of teaching is highly variable. I prefer customizing how information is introduced based on the needs of the student.
For example, most students don't like to read. But talking through concepts over webcam and building reference notes together help them visualize the concepts they need to understand. Using class time this way is much more effective due to the fact that assignments can be done on their own time.
Other students, understand concepts easily on their own and choose to use class time for reviewing and stepping through assignments. This method reveals gaps in understanding lecture material and focuses more on its application.
I feel strongly that a private tutor is a tool that helps you as an individual learn, not another teacher stressing you out
