About Rebekah

I'm an experienced tutor with a background in historical research (MA and PhD), with expertise in the history of modern Britain, the British Empire, and the United States. I'm passionate about finding ways of studying and revising that work for students as individuals, helping to build confidence and interest in their studies. By working closely one-on-one, we can find out what works best for you. Get in touch to arrange a free first lesson!

About the lesson

I know firsthand what it's like to struggle with a large syllabus or open-ended essay question. I'll help you to learn how to structure essays effectively and simplify what you need to know. I work with students to find what methods help them to learn what they need to and to excel. Whether you are struggling with the content of a syllabus or motivation, I'll help find practical solutions and encourage you. In particular, I can help with units or modules related to modern British history, US history, and the history of the British Empire. If the area you are studying falls outside of these topics, please still get in touch. In our first session, we'll get to know one another and work out what you are looking for help with. From there, we can make a specific plan to cover the content and focus on skills that are most relevant to you, whether that's essay writing, revision skills, or primary source analysis.

We had a great first session looking at the Cold War in detail. Henry was able to link different aspects of events together and used the historical evidence we discussed to articulate why the Hungarian Uprising was so significant. I'm looking forward to our next session.

We had a great first session back after the Christmas break. Aimee is doing really well, having received a great mark on her mock exam. We discussed how her A levels are going more generally and her plans for university. Aimee provided excellent answers to two questions I put to her based on the content we revised. We also made plans to begin revising her next unit, on the British Empire, next week.

I highly recommend Rebekah as a history gcse tutor as she was very knowledgeable and engaging with my son who had missed a lot of school.
