About Shuqi
Hi! I’m Shuqi, a Master’s student at the University of Sydney. I previously completed my Bachelor’s degree in Economic Statistics at the Shanghai University of International Business and Economics.
I am a friendly, patient, and responsible tutor with over two years of experience working with primary and secondary school students in English and Mathematics. I have also worked as an IELTS teaching assistant and tutor, and I enjoy helping students become more confident in using English.
As a tutor, I believe that every student has their own learning style and pace. I always try to understand my students first and then adapt my teaching approach to what works best for them. I am particularly patient with students who may feel nervous about speaking English or lack confidence in their academic abilities.

My lessons are personalised, engaging, and designed around each student’s individual needs and learning goals.
Before starting, I like to understand the student’s current level, strengths, areas for improvement, and learning objectives. I then tailor each lesson to their pace and ability, making sure the content is challenging enough to encourage progress while remaining enjoyable and manageable.
For English, I can help students with speaking, vocabulary, grammar, reading, schoolwork, and IELTS preparation. For younger learners, I use conversations, role-play, stories, and real-life topics to make English more engaging and help them become more confident when speaking.
For Mathematics, I focus on understanding concepts and developing problem-solving skills rather than simply memorising formulas. We can review schoolwork, identify mistakes, work through problems step by step, and practise similar questions to strengthen understanding.
