About Jaeden

I am a pianist, vocalist, guitarist, percussionist, song writer.
I began at home learning to play self taught by ear, later learning theory and attending Grafton conservatory of music. My attention turned to people who felt locked out of learning by traditional theory.
My methods return and embrace traditional theory when the students have brought life to their own music and instrument.
I bring students a marriage between rhythm, melody, chords and octaves, harmonic transposition, and note and chord recognition by ear, and knowledge and practical application of relative harmonic options.

My methods are using sight memory of chord shapes, scale patterns, and adding a numbered map of each while also referring to the traditional theory maps.
In this way the student has five ways to decipher, memorize, and recall correctly the process and content.
Some students combine them all from the start though often their own established manner will favor one to the rest, and part of my requirement for a pass is the marriage of the rest. This approach has been successful with illiterate and blind students who now enjoy their instruments and with a little technology transfer their own compositions to the traditional theory page.
The percussion content is mandatory for all students no matter what instruments they prefer giving them correct timing and consistency of tempo.
Also acquired is the ability to ride the wave of change forward in pieces that change in tempo without having heard the piece previously. Students will learn to support others with percussion, to their own music AND play the piece on their own instruments until the results are the same.
In the process each student will succeed with the first method that is working for them to start with.
It's my pleasure to connect and manage the differences between the students and gradually include all five reference methods as a five compartment pass.
Percussion is presented in three different ways. Four coloured lights on a light bar at the front of the room which are synced to smaller lights on the drum/ drum kit. Earphones for individuals or whole groups, earphones used to produce a handicap so that memory feel only is possible.
Group cooperation with single and double bongos, congoes,
Exercises where each student will change the rhythm and tempo for the group and everyone then finds that feel.
I structure and apply activities so that I have the time to get around to each student and fine tune their progress. I document the process and move on to the cooperation of the group in each new step. I find video recording for later reference in lessons and for students to practice at home is a great way to get faster results and inspires students to believe in a larger potential for growth in themselves.
Performance by individuals and the group will be a medium term goal, and proceeds generated by performing in public audited and documented.
I would hope that these funds could be applied to acquiring of equipment, lease of venues, catering of events, etc.
Following the details and structure of this correctly is also part of the curriculum I have to offer. All and any supervision by administration is welcome and appreciated I would also like students to cover the whole process in this capacity and know correctly what is required as well.
This allows for a realistic confidence in them to apply the skills and enjoy the results without gaps between potential, ability and income.
